Wine Storage and Beverage Centers
Wine storage appliances are an affordable addition to any wine-lover’s kitchen. These handy appliances maintain both optimum temperature and humidity for wine storage, and some offer a sliding temperature range of 37 to 60 degrees, from a colder bottom to a warmer top shelf, to accommodate different types of wine. Higher-end models will have slide-out shelves and electronic controls which often have pre-settings for reds, whites and champagne.
Wine storage centers are available in a variety of sizes and styles. Doors can be glass, solid or matched to the surrounding cabinetry. Standard heights are 34 inches for free standing or under-counter units and 84 inches for full-height built-ins.
A variation on the wine storage appliance is the beverage center, an all purpose refrigerator for wine, beer, juices, sodas and short-term food storage. These appliances are not recommended for long-term wine and food storage because they do not stay cool enough, but beverage centers can help clear out an overcrowded main fridge while keeping your drinks handy for entertaining.
